Kikaida in the 70's

Today I am going through stuff that I wanna keep or throw away when I came across my Kikaida DVD Collection that my aunty Charmaine gave me awhile back. Definitely a keeper..

Just the opening song alone brings back childhood memories of Hawaii.

It's funny how things are a lot different than you remembered them to be. When I first saw Kikaida it was totally off the hook. But when you see it now, it's like whoah...

The way it was back then is what counts though. Carefree times of childhood is always some of the best, with no responsibilities and just the love of your family is just enough.

Writing at 5am

Trying out this getting up and writing at 5am thing.

It's supposed to help me write and begin a regimen of writing.

I also cooked some eggs and oatmeal with coffee for breakfast too.

That way I can start doing the 6 meal a day program also.

Man I'm tired.. Probably cause I fell asleep at around 12:30 or so.

The sun should be comin up over the horizon in a few minutes. Think I'll get out and walk outside to check that out.

Got lots of things to do today.. and I don't know where to start.. I guess this is a good place to begin at the moment.

I'll need to refine my list of things to do as I go along. But I think that this 5am writing thing is gonna be a good thing.

Becoming a Giveaway Artist.. Hmmm?

Don't know much about making a living as a giveaway artist, but some immediate benefits are pretty clear.
Bren Bataclan Cambridge Giveaway Artist
Bren Bataclan Giveaway Artist of Cambridge

What is a giveaway artist?

A giveaway artist is an artist who creates artwork and simply gives it away.

They are driven by some purpose, whether it be to make people happy as with the case of artist Bren Bataclan of Cambridge. He has created artwork that can be taken into homes for free, as well as free murals for everyone to see.

The benefits of being a giveaway artist are immediate. Artwork given away in such a fashion is instantly inspiring to the artist and to the person receiving the art.

If you paint a mural at a school for instance, you can have the children there contribute to the artwork and be a part of a piece that can last a lifetime. Thus raising self-esteem for kids and contributing to growing communities!

Like I said earlier, I don't know much about making a living giving away artwork, but there is definitely something to be gained that goes well beyond any monetary value.

Last Day at Motel 6

Today is my last day working for Motel 6..

Now I’m getting ready to move out of State to either Nevada, Arizona or Arkansas.

Too many opportunities ahead, it’s just a matter of picking one and running with it.

I’m confused but hopeful

A Little Help (Kokua Please)

Hazen the Artist
The Awesome Helper

After my first day shift at Motel 6, it was now time to head over to The Lounge 22 and work on the mural.

Sax, Dancers & Chick in Front
More Outlines..
I stopped by at home to pick up my son Hazen and have him try and layout some penciling on the mural.

He did an awesome job! It's hard to see the penciling from the photographs but you can see what he did after I painted over it with black paint.

We wrapped up at about eight o'clock and called it a day. Got home skipped dinner, took a shower and crashed out..

Today we'll probably do the same thing (except skipping dinner). Hopefully we can get all of the outlining done today and start filling in the rest of the mural with color! :-D

Got a Job at Motel 6

Logo UpI got to work on the mural late today because I had a surprise orientation at Motel 6.

Motel 6 hired me on as Maintenance today so I start next week Monday as the new Maintenance guy.

Anyway... Tomorrow I gotta play drums at Church till about noon.. Then I'll get back to work on the Mural again, so I can get as much done as I can before Monday.Sharing a Drink

Almost Pau.. Yeah Right..
Almost Pau.. Yeah Right..
The projected Grand Opening of The Lounge 22 is in May. So I gotta get crackin'..

Today I was able to draw the couple at the bottom of the logo in pencil and paint the logo.

My son Hazen helped me paint the outline of the woman on the right and the sax player on the left. I guess we'll see what happens tomorrow!

Working On a Radius Ooh La La!

Mural Wall
Mural Wall
The Mural wall is on a Radius which makes it a little difficult to transfer an image into it.

What makes it more difficult is that there is a column in front of it, so that rules out projecting an image from a projector onto the wall.

So how do you get the image on the wall?

Grid..

To start the grid at every foot you have to measure along the floor and make a mark.

After you have all your marks at every foot you have to make marks straight up the wall at every foot until you have grid marks at every square foot.

This mural measures about 136 square feet and at $10 bucks a square foot which you can see on my (price page), they're gonna want their money's worth!

Usually it costs more per square foot to do such artwork on a wall that has a radius, but because I'm such a nice guy (shhhh don't tell anyone).

Using The Level
Using The Level
I'm gonna do it for beers! Just kidding..

Anyway.. today I gotta start painting it in and finish up the sketching on the wall at the same time.

Soooooo.. Laters -

Together Again After A Whole Year!

Forced N2 Submission - April 2013

Yesss..

We kissed and made up!

Our band "Forced N2 Submission" is back.

After the 5K run we're gonna finally throw a jam at my house after a whole year hiatus!

This Sunday at 4PM we're gonna rock it out at "Hale Ai No Kea" (my house) in Loma Linda.

You can bring something to throw on the barbecue because Lloyd's got enough propane to light up the whole night LOL!

Text me if you wanna chill with us, have a brew and throw down on some barbecue! \m/
